The Principality of Andorra is a small country (about 468 km2) located in the Pyrenees between the countries of Spain and France. Its capital is Andorra la Vella, and in total consists of seven parishes: Canillo, Encamp, Ordino, La Massana, Andorra la Vella, Sant Julia de Loria and Escaldes-Engordany.
The total population of Andorra is less than 70,000 inhabitants (as of 2011), but the country is visited by more than 10,000 visitors each year, who choose Andorra as their vacation spot, for shopping,or for business trips, as it is considered one of the most important tourist centers in Europe.
Andorra is a mountainous land, located in a region with steep mountain peaks and beautiful valleys through which countless waterways run. Its average elevation is around 2,000 meters above sea level, and in total it has 65 peaks with an altitude greater than 2,500 meters Its highest mountain is the Peak of Comapedrosa, with an altitude of 2,942 meters above sea level.
The high season in Andorra is certainly at winter. Whole country is considered as one big ski resort so from November to April Europeans are crowding it seeking for great skiing. Climate of the country is dry due to influence of the Mediterranean. Average temperature at winter is about 2 °C (36 °F) while at summer may reach 20 °C (68 °F).
Some of the reasons why Andorra is visited by millions of people every year are its matchless opportunities and prices for shoppers; its touristic activities of adventure sports, the mountain in winter; its abundance of Romanesque monuments; and the friendliness of its inhabitants.
